Environment Wet - some stairs and handrails may be slippery. Temperature is a constant 58°F with 90% to 105% humidity. Lighting Cave is lit for walking tours, but additional lighting is recommended for picking up more detail. Suggested Interior Shots Helictite crystals for which cave was named a National Natural Landmark Look down from the platform in the Colossal Room to the blue lakes 100 feet below. (Naturally occuring calcium bicarbonate makes the lakes a brilliant blue.)
